“Focus on aphasia 2017” took place on Friday. We had 67 people attend and 26 of those attending were people with aphasia.
All the speakers contributed to a great event including Dr Felicity Bright, Emma Castles, Stephen Gibbs, Les Cunningham, Anna Jerebine and Amy Maunder.
As always, the presentations by those people with aphasia (Linda Hunt, Sarah Manning, Wai Awa, Gerald Burns, Angel Wilson and Charlie Delacy-Parkes) gave us insight into living with aphasia with a mix of humour and inspiration. The team from the Strive Rehabilitation @ Manawatu provided us with a spontaneous closing waiata.
Thank you to Anita Miller, Kim Herd, Pete McLachlan, Gerri McRae and Michelle Poulain for all the help on the day which made things go smoothly.
Thanks too to Lee Pepping, Strive Rehabilitation @ Hawke's Bay Service Manager, for her ongoing support of these aphasia events.
